52 Card Pick-Up: After Hours
When the card game ends, the night continues.
In the base game, a successful evening at The Neon Cactus ends with a fade to black. After Hours replaces that fade with an interactive intimate scene.
This is a companion module, not a patch. It connects to the main game through the same characters, the same relationships, the same evening. The card game builds the connection. After Hours explores what that connection becomes when the bar closes.
How It Works
After Hours uses a different interaction model than the card game. Instead of playing cards, you make choices. Where to touch, what to say, when to ask and when to act. Each of the 12 characters from The Neon Cactus behaves differently because they are different people.
The system underneath is built around a utility-AI scoring engine that evaluates every possible action based on the character’s preferences, current state, your shared history, and what’s happened in the scene so far. Actions your partner would enjoy appear more prominently. Actions that might not land show warnings. The game helps you read the room.

Consent Is the Core Mechanic
Every action goes through a consent check. Characters can accept enthusiastically, accept willingly, say “not yet,” refuse, or declare a hard limit.
If a character refuses an action, you can ask about it respectfully. Once. Try the same thing again without asking? The scene ends. No second chances. No wearing them down.
Some characters love being asked. Some read the moment and expect you to as well. The game models real consent: contextual, continuous, and character-dependent.
The game never rewards persistence past a “no.” It always rewards communication, attentiveness, and respect.

Discovery, Not Conquest
Each character has preferences, hidden interests, and discoveries that unlock through attentive play. Satisfaction is mutual. Both meters matter. The goal is connection, and connection requires paying attention.

The Connection
After Hours is designed to work with 52 Card Pick-Up. When both are installed, the main game detects the module automatically. Instead of a fade to black, the evening continues seamlessly. Same save file, same session. The card game builds the relationship. After Hours deepens it.
